Student Behavioral Expectations

One of the ways in which God has blessed RUSH is by bringing an incredibly large number of youth through our front doors on Wednesday nights. We have behavior expectations for our students and our students have for the most part continually met and/or exceeded those expectations.
  • We have and will continue to clearly communicate to students that we will not tolerate any of the following behavior:
    • Disrespect of a leader
    • Disrespect of a student
    • Disrespect of the property
    • Doing anything illegal while at RUSH or at a RUSH-sponsored event/activity
  • The following are our procedures if/when behavior issues arise with students:
    • Step 1: Small group leader(s) will have a conversation with the student who is being disrespectful/misbehaving and will notify the student’s parent/guardian about the conversation.
    • Step 2: If behavior doesn’t change, small group leader(s) will elevate the issue to Pastor Charles and/or Mary Graves to determine if the student should receive a 2-week suspension from RUSH. Pastor Charles and/or Mary Graves will reach out to the student’s parent/guardian to discuss next steps.
    • Step 3: If behavior doesn’t change after a 2-week suspension from RUSH, small group leader(s) will again elevate the issue to Pastor Charles and/or Mary Graves to determine if the student should receive a 4-week suspension from RUSH. Pastor Charles and/or Mary Graves will reach out to the student’s parent/guardian to discuss next steps.
    • Step 4: If after a 4-week suspension the inappropriate behavior continues, Pastor Charles, Mary Graves and small group leader(s) will discuss with the parent/guardian and student whether the student should step back from RUSH indefinitely.
  • If a student, parent/guardian or RUSH leader has any questions or concerns regarding student expectations and/or our RUSH discipline protocol, please reach out to Pastor Charles Mersberger (Associate Pastor-Youth Ministry) or Mary Graves (Director-Youth Ministry).
